Welcome to my Road to Rolex!

This blog will contain information about my side project: DikkeKlok.nl.

DikkeKlok.nl is a stand-alone side project that will hopefully become successful. This means - hence this blog - in me becoming the proud owner of a brand new Rolex timepiece. The goal of this blog however is to explain my decisions and thought process along the way, and to track developments over time. It will be mainly focussed on the operational aspects (details about setting up a website, do’s/don’ts, etcetera) and give insights into various statistics. Enjoy!

Latest progress:

  • Statistic update: January 2024

Every new piece of equipment, tool, or SaaS software has a certain learning curve. Luckily, the combination Zoho and TransIP was relatively painless.

  • Name, domain, gains?

Sometimes, a name is all you need. It just pops up in your head and you immediately know that it is valuable. ‘Valuable’ until you find out that it is trademarked or already registered by someone else. Stuff like this pushes me to think and try harder - and hopefully, find a hidden gem.

  • The start

Growing up and adulting comes with the joy of having various obligations. For example, doing your dishes, paying rent instead of buying toys or blowing money on stuff you don’t need. Anyway…

  • Motivation and initial reasoning

First of all, thanks to everyone reading this. It is always a bit scary to start something new, especially before knowing if any of it will ever be successful or not. But…
